Sankaramanglam Lectures 2024-25: Exploring Emerging Media Trends

The annual Sankaramanglam Lectures 2024-25, a national conference on Media & Communication, was successfully held on February 6, 2025. This year’s theme, "Emerging Trends and Challenges in Media," provided a platform for insightful discussions on the future of the industry. The event featured two plenary sessions led by eminent professionals. In the forenoon session, Mr Sunil Prabhakar, Digital Media Consultant at Mathrubhumi Online, spoke on "AI-Powered Media: The Future of Content Creation," highlighting how artificial intelligence is reshaping media landscapes. The afternoon session, led by Mr. Densil Antony, Chairman and CEO of HR Horizon, focused on "Future Frames: How AR, VR, and the Metaverse Are Crafting Tomorrow’s Media Experiences," offering valuable insights into the impact of immersive technologies on storytelling and communication. In addition to the keynote sessions, the conference also showcased ten research papers presented by scholars from various universities across South India. These papers delved into diverse aspects of media and communication, enriching the academic discourse. The paper presentation sessions were moderated by Dr. V. Ilamparathi, Assistant Professor at the Centre for Film and Electronic Media Studies, Madurai Kamaraj University, and Dr. M. S. Harikumar, Assistant Professor at the Department of Communication and Journalism, University of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram. The conference was meticulously coordinated by Dr Lincoln Kadoopparayil and Dr Muthu U.T., faculty members of SJCC, ensuring a well-structured and engaging experience for all participants. With its thought-provoking discussions and scholarly contributions, Sankaramanglam Lectures 2024-25 successfully fostered a deeper understanding of the dynamic and evolving media landscape.
