St Joseph College of Communication is extremely happy to announce that the film Letters Unwritten to Naiyer Masud, directed by Mr. Shahi AJ, Lecturer Department of Media Studies, will have its World Premier at the Rotterdam Film Festival 2023. Shahi A J is a filmmaker based in Kollam, Kerala. He is a literature graduate from T K M College of Arts and Science. He passed out from the Film and Television Institute of India in Script Writing and Direction in 2012. He is currently working as Lecturer in St Joseph College of Communication and is attached to the Department of Media Studies. Having identified a number of elements that reappear in the short stories of Naiyer Masud – in particular, the house in which he wrote all his works – a group of enthusiasts of the late author’s writings make a visit to the city of Lucknow in northern India. A pilgrimage taken by a group of readers to the ancestral house of a writer (a space that haunts all of his stories ) nested in the heart of a city, turns into an exploration and an exercise in mapmaking of the city. Birthing a hallucinatory encounter with the real, as these strange-newcomers obsessively chase mirages through its bustling streets, blanketed by a dream made of ancient lore's, stories and signs . The management, staff and students of SJCC wish Mr. Shahi AJ all the very best for this World Premiere.
