St. Joseph College of Communication, in collaboration with 90.8 Radio Media Village, has partnered with the Kottayam District Police to launch a comprehensive year-long awareness program aimed at combating online theft and fraud. This initiative was officially set in motion on October 4, 2024, when Shahul Hameed A, IPS, the District Police Chief of Kottayam, visited the college to discuss the growing threat of cybercrime and the need for preventive action. Following this meeting, a dedicated committee was formed, incorporating representatives from the Changanacherry Municipality and the grama panchayats of Paippad, Thrickodithanam, Vazhappally, Madappally, and Kurichy, to ensure community-wide involvement in the initiative. To reach a broad audience, 90.8 Radio Media Village will air a series of programs highlighting strategies to prevent online theft, while St. Joseph College of Communication has committed to producing educational videos and short films focused on cyber safety. Through these combined efforts, the program aims to educate the public, foster digital vigilance, and empower the community to protect themselves from online fraud.
