College welcomes new comers with Deekshamrambham

Deeksharambham 2023, the student induction programme, was conducted at SJCC as a four-day programme for the new BA and MA batches. It was held departmentally on four different days between July 10 and 19 at the MV Cinemas. The Deeksharambh, Student Induction Programme envisaged by the UGC is to help new students adjust and feel comfortable in the new environment, inculcate in them the ethos and culture of the institution, help them build bonds with other students and faculty members, and expose them to a sense of larger purpose and self-exploration. The Department of Media Studies conducted its Deeksharambham on July 10 for BA Multimedia, BA Visual Communication, and BA Audiography and Digital Editing. Mr. TK Rajeeve Kumar, Director, Script writer, and National Award winner, was the Chief Guest. His speech inspired and motivated students to work hard in the coming years and to be passionate about the work they aspire to do in their coming years in cinema. The Department of Animation and Design’s induction programme was conducted for BA Animation and Design, BA Animation and Visual Effects, and BA Visual Arts students on July 11. Mr. Mahesh Vettiyar, a renowned Animator and filmmaker, was the chief guest and talked to students regarding the importance of confidence and belief in their work. He said every small step counts on the path to success, boosted the morale of students, and instilled in them the ideas of responsibility and hard work. The Department of Commerce conducted its Deeksharambham on July 12. Dr. Janssen Joseph, HoD Commerce at SB College, was the chief guest. He talked about the scope of Commerce in this fast-changing world and inspired students to stay abreast of the dynamics of the field and the benefits of higher education. Deeksharambham for MA students was conducted on July 19. All MA batches, including Animation, Graphic Design, Cinema and television, and Print and Electronic journalism, were part of this. Mr. Sunny Joseph, Academician, cinematographer, and director, was the chief guest. Students who secured ranks in the Mahatma Gandhi University Exam were given appreciation awards by each of the departments. Well-placed alumni, which included Ms. Silpa Rajan, Digital Content Creator, Times of India, and Mr. Jishnu P. Dev, VFX Supervisor, Mumbai, were also invited to motivate the students. The Principal, Heads of departments, and parents of students were present.
