Digital Library

The library serves as the heart of our college, providing an academic atmosphere where students can access information, entertainment, and knowledge. It is a space conducive to self-study, learning, and social interaction.

Books

The stack section of the library houses approximately 10,000 books encompassing 8,750 titles across various genres, including Animation & Design, Film & Media Studies, English Fiction, Malayalam Fiction, Biography, Commerce, and General topics. Our open stack policy allows students direct access to select books, with a focus on catering to student preferences and needs.

Periodicals

Our reading section features a diverse collection of magazines and journals directly relevant to the courses students are studying. Additionally, the availability of newspapers keeps students informed and up-to-date.

Reference Books

The library's reference section is stocked with subject-specific books, encyclopedias, dictionaries, bound volumes, and textbooks that students can utilize for immediate reference purposes.

Research Resources and Electronic Databases

Our library subscribes to NLIST, MAGZTER, and other services, granting students unlimited access to e-books, journals, and articles online. Authorized users can directly download required articles from publishers' websites, greatly enhancing students' accessibility to research materials. Mediateca

Our library functions as a digital media lab by providing access to OTT platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hotstar. This resource is integral to our curriculum as a media college, enabling students to watch films, documentaries, docu-fictions, and music videos. It also serves as a space for relaxed reading and work.

Library Automation

We utilize the KOHA automation software for library operations, with a fully barcoded collection and WEB-OPAC service accessible campus-wide.

Free Access to Computers and Internet

In addition to being a repository of knowledge, our library offers free access to computers and full-time Wi-Fi internet. It has evolved into a hub of accessibility where students can gather and utilize internet resources.

Quiet Study Spaces

The library provides quiet study areas, particularly beneficial for postgraduate students engaged in research projects. Students are equipped with all the necessary facilities to support their research endeavours.

Events And Activities

The library organizes events, activities, and competitions for students, celebrating occasions like World Reading Day and World Book and Copyright Day. We also commemorate the birthdays of renowned authors and poets, honouring individuals who have emphasized the importance of reading. Special recognition is given to students who borrow the highest number of books in an academic year. Furthermore, students are encouraged to donate books to the library on significant occasions like their birthdays.

Rules and Regulations

  1. Silence must be strictly observed in and around the library. Students are expected to cooperate with the library staff. Do not bring bags or personal books into the library.
  2. Each student is given one borrower’s card from the library. One book at a time can be borrowed. When the book is returned to the library, the card will be given back. Each postgraduate student can get two books at a time.
  3. Students are expected to take care not to lose the card issued to them. A student to whom a card is issued will be responsible for all the books borrowed against that card by anybody.
  4. Whenever a student has to get a no-dues chit or a clearance certificate from the library
  5. He/she must return to the library the card lent to him/her.
  6. Students must, on receiving the books, examine them and report to the library staff any damage found therein. If they fail to do so, they will be held responsible for any damage detected afterwards.
  7. A book borrowed should be returned on or before the date last marked on its date table. An overdue charge of Rs. 5/- will be levied for each day after the due date.
  8. Do not make any marking or underlining in the books and periodicals belonging to the library or disfigure them in any other way.
  9. If a book is damaged or lost by a student, he/she shall pay the cost of replacing the book. If one of a set of books is damaged or lost by a member, he/she must replace it with a copy of the same edition. If it is not available he/she shall replace the whole set. Students are not allowed to sub-lend or exchange the cards or books issued to them.
  10. The librarian can refuse to issue the same books to the same borrower repeatedly if it is necessary to prevent the monopolization of a book required by many.
  11. The librarian can recall from a borrower the book at any time.
