On the occasion of World Anti Drugs day, SJCC along with MVCC organised an awareness seminar on 27th June, Tuesday at the college auditorium. The Deputy Excise Commissioner of Kottayam, Mr. Suresh Richard was the chief guest for the programme. The seminar started at 2 pm in the college auditorium with a prayer. Rev. Fr. Antony Ethackad , the Executive Director of Media Village welcomed everyone to the function by addressing the gathering. He spoke about the changing attitude and behaviour of students using drugs and how a college can have impact upon them. Mr. Suresh Richard spoke to the students of SJCC and MVCC about the drug abuse by sharing his real life experiences. He advised the students to have a strong relationship with their family to lead a safe and secure life. He added that no drug is good for any man’s mental and physical health. Concluding his words, he officially inaugurated the Anti Drug Cell of the college and he administered the anti drug oath to all who gathered for the seminar. Following it, student representatives of both colleges delivered felicitation for the upcoming events of Anti Drug Cell. Jibi Chacko (2nd year M.com) of MVCC and Devika S Kartha (2nd year MA P&EJ) of SJCC were the students representatives. As part of the anti drug awareness programme “Out Drugs Out”, a video campaign was made by Jinu Varghese (HOD, SJCC) and Jinu Joseph (PRO) along with the students was screened on the occasion. Another film by the students of SJCC as part of the last year’s anti drug campaign ‘Cleanse Life’ was also screened. The function ended up with a vote of thanks by Rev. Fr. Dr. Joseph Parackal (Principal, SJCC).
